Right in front of Suma Station, this beach is easy to access(only 30mins from Kobe's central) and has a laid-back, peaceful vibe. Nearby, you’ll find attractions like the Suma Aqualife Park, where you can watch incredible orca shows, also, thre is a windsurfing shop where you can rental gears or try it.
Unlike Western beaches, Suma has a unique, calm atmosphere. If you're looking for a party beach, you might be disappointed—but if you just want to relax by the sea while in Kobe, it's a great choice.
There are shops where you can buy swimsuits (like Murasaki Sports), and you can even enjoy a BBQ by the beach. Highly recommended!

Suma Dera Temple
About a kilometer north of Suma Station, this historic temple is nestled on a hillside.
The temple area is surrounded by an old shopping street that feels like it hasn’t changed in decades—some shops look almost abandoned, adding to the nostalgic charm.
Sumadera is one of the most grand and serene temples in the Kansai area, without the heavy commercialization you’ll find in more touristy spots. A hidden gem for explorers.
